WHAT IS TAROT?
The Tarot is a deck of 78 cards, each with its own imagery, symbolism, and when used with the other cards, part of a larger story. The Tarot is divided into two portions, The Major Arcana and The Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana are the 22 cards representative of major life events and lessons, big energy and changes in your life. The Minor Arcana are the 56 cards that represent smaller situations, dealing more with things that go in our day to day lives. The Minor Arcana are also divided into four suits: Swords, Cups, Pentacles, and Wands. Each suit also has an element and a meaning
> Swords: Air, Thoughts, Intellect, Conversation, Truth, Matters of the Mind
> Cups: Water, Emotions, Feelings, Relationships, Matters of the Heart
> Pentacles: Earth, Career, Work, Finances, Matters of Practicality
> Wands: Fire, Motivation, Energy, Inspiration, Matters of the Soul
HOW DO I USE IT?
A common misconception about Tarot is that it is used for Fortune Telling, or for questions like “Does [so-and-so] like me?”, “Am I going to lose my job?”, etc. This is not how Tarot is supposed to be used. Tarot is also not typically used to answer “Yes” or “No” type questions. Tarot is used for self-development, making choices, attaining goals, planning, meditating, manifesting and things like such. When people use Tarot to look at the future it is less about fortune telling and more about leaning into one’s intuition. Through using and looking at the cards, the subconscious mind is accessed and it has a chance to come through and give one inner wisdom, whether that be something you don’t know or just something you keep pretending you don’t know.
The cards are laid out in patterns called ‘Spreads’. Each position in a spread corresponds to an aspect of your life or the question at hand. Things like “Past, Present, Future” or “Situation, Challenge, Advice, Outcome”
That’s why this next part is important for me to say, the result of your Tarot reading is NOT concrete. Tarot is a tool used to look at how the energy in your life is flowing at that moment, and what may potentially happen if the energy keeps moving in that fashion. If you don’t like the result of your reading, it is totally within your power to change it, by doing something different.
I start my readings by having the querent (that’s you) giving me a run-down of the situation they have questions about and from there I will begin to come up with a question to ask the Tarot. I typically will shuffle 8 times, alternating between using the bridge method and cutting the deck into thirds. Draw the number of cards corresponding to the spread I’m using, turning them over and evaluating them one by one and then again as a whole picture.
Below are the different reading options I’m offering, please take a look at them and feel free to contact me if you have any questions. When you buy a reading include any question or specifics of your situation in the notes of your purchase, as well as your phone and email, and which method you’d prefer I get back to you with and I will do so as soon as possible! If you have a certain spread you’d like me to use, a link or description of that would be helpful as well.
(Prices, Number of Cards, Etc. are all subject to change. This is just a starting point.)
